Idaho Nonresident Deer/Elk Tag Drawing Results: Buy by Jan. 20

Vital Updates for Nonresident Hunters in Idaho: Tag Results and Purchases

As the sun rises over Idaho’s expansive backcountry, nonresident hunters gear up for a crucial moment in their pursuit of adventure: the announcement of tag results. While some may eagerly await an email notification, there’s a faster way to check if you’ve drawn that coveted deer or elk tag. Follow these steps to discover your results promptly.

Immediate Access to Tag Results

To access your hunt results swiftly, navigate to GoOutdoorsIdaho.com. Here’s how:

  1. Log into your account using your date of birth, last name, and personal identifier.
  2. On your homepage, select the “Applications & Awards” option.
  3. Find your results listed under “Hunt Choices.” If your status reads “selected,” congratulations—you’ve drawn your tag!

Be Prepared for Heavy Traffic: As excitement mounts, expect high traffic on the Fish and Game licensing system. A virtual waiting line may be activated to assist in managing this influx, giving you an estimated wait time for checking your results.

Deadline Alert: Purchasing Nonresident Tags

The clock is ticking! Nonresident deer and elk tags drawn (excluding Disabled American Veteran (DAV) tags) must be purchased by January 20 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Failing to secure your tag by this deadline will result in forfeiture, with those tags becoming available in the second drawing.

Special Note on DAV Tags:

  • Deadline for DAV Purchases: March 20 at 11:59 p.m. MST.
  • Any unpurchased DAV tags will roll over into a future Returned Tag Sale.

Take Note: No exceptions will be made for the nonresident tag purchase deadline. It is crucial that applicants verify their drawing status and make timely purchases.

If you plan to hunt during an archery or muzzleloader-only season, ensure you possess the corresponding permit. Don’t forget: completion of Bowhunter Education is required for obtaining an archery permit.

Second Nonresident Tag Drawing

For those who missed out on the first round, a second application period for remaining tags will be open from February 5-15. Results will be announced in early March, and all tags—including any remaining DAV tags—must be purchased by March 20. Remember, if you’ve successfully drawn a tag in the first application period, you are ineligible to reapply for that same species.

Potential Changes to Refund Policies

Be vigilant! The Idaho Fish and Game Department is considering changes to administrative rules that may impact refund and exchange policies for nonresident licenses and tags. Stay informed by reviewing the proposed rules on their website: Idaho Fish and Game Rulemaking.

Why It Matters

These regulations are not just bureaucratic details; they shape the future of wildlife management and conservation in Idaho. By adhering strictly to deadlines and rules, hunters contribute to sustainable practices that ensure the health of local ecosystems. Local economies also thrive on the revenue generated from hunting tags, which funds conservation initiatives and supports local businesses catering to outdoor recreation.

Field Insights: Pro Tips for Successful Tag Management

  • Set Reminders: Utilize a calendar app to alert you a week before critical deadlines so you won’t miss out on hunting opportunities.
  • Backup Browsing Options: If the website experiences heavy traffic, consider using different devices or browsers to expedite your wait time.
  • Stay Informed: Regularly check the Idaho Fish and Game website for updates on proposed rule changes that may impact hunting regulations.

As the anticipation builds for Idaho’s hunting seasons, being well-informed and proactive will enhance your experience in the great outdoors. Embrace the thrill of the hunt, and may your preparation lead to adventure-filled days nestled in the stunning Idaho landscape.
